Busy day on the staple sporting front, with plenty of football and racing about. Quite a few selections below so just pick and mix as you see fit.
Few words of congratulations should be given to Ben Ainslie and his sailing crew for the heroics from mid-week. In any sport to come from 1-8 down to win 9-8 is outstanding, but especially in a multi million dollar sport, where you need to rely on your team mates and have utmost faith in you ability, well done. But how bitter a blow it must have been for the Kiwis, talk about self confidence taking a kicking.
Several things made me angry this week, including Stephen Lee's continuing pleading of his innocence. I'm sorry but you don't get banned for 12yrs just because somebody doesn't like you.he got found guilty, end of story! I understand he sacked 3 legal teams and represented himself and then complains he wouldn't have got the ban if he had legal representation!! He then bleated on about having a family to support, well I'm sorry he should have thought about that beforehand, he will know have to join the rest of us working for every penny, instead of wasting his talent on a sport he claims to have loved. Sport has no place for cheats, and his actions where an insult the game and his fellow players.
In the football, I can't say I'm sorry to see Sunderland looking for a new manager, as you may have gathered in previous posts, i wasn't exactly a big fan of the buffoon. Whoever goes in will have a big team rebuilding job to do, so good luck. I'm just finishing Bobby Robson's Auto biography, and the one message he constantly taught was 'respect', not just for your team mates, but the club, the fans, the game and yourself. Some people could learn an awful lot from that.
Following Man Utd's lucky win over Liverpool I'm still quite happy with my decision to lay them finishing in the top 4. I think Moyes is going to struggle to put together consistent performances that will drive the team forward, he may need a year or two to mould the team his way, as well as getting a decent midfield play maker in. Arsenal seem to be clicking well, and Jose may have found the key again to his team, at the moment my money is on a blue team winning the league.
Today's racing see's the cavalry charge that is the Cambridgeshire, so a Lay the Field tarde for me with a possible saver on Red Avenger and King George River. In the Sun Chariot Sky lantern gets my vote.
Whatever you do, have fun and don't life too seriously
