Bring on Saturday...

So that's the footy season underway now in most countries, and how many of you got caught with the surprise results that were knocking about? Chelsea struggled with Reading, Liverpool made to pay heavily at WBA, Man Utd stifled by a decent looking Everton, and new boys Southampton nearly upsetting Man City.  On the continent PSG have still to start to repay for all their investments, and Barca & R Madrid threw up a few surprise goals.  And what a start from Swansea, and can somebody tell me if Chris Houghton & Mark Hughes slept well after last Saturday?

Just goes to prove why i should ot get involved too heavily at the beginning of each season, but temptation always plays its part, so I really need to improve on self discipline.  I got involved several times where I shouldn't of, and made some very silly mistakes, i kidded myself that the stats for a first match of the season meant the same as they do half way through!! Must stop kidding myself.

On the transfer front, there seems to be the smell of desperation starting to seep in, with the window coming to a close teams are not only starting their moves, but are also looking and starting to worry about their own players who may be targets. One of the surprise fees paid seem to be in Sunderland's case £14m for Steven Fletcher, money well spent, personally I think not. the Black Cats need to strengthen, another £12m spent on Adam Johnson, Louis Saha has signed, a lot of faith being shown in O'Neil by the board, will it come to fruition? Liverpool have secured the signing of Sahrin, good move and should compliment Roger's style of play. Fergie reckons he's finished spending, have the feeling we may see a few youngsters coming through this season. For me one of the questions is what will Man City do towards the end of the week, a few more million to be swapping hands before the market shuts, and will they pay the inflated prices that they will be quoted.  I read an interesting article in last weeks Times that highlighted the bargains that exist on the continent, and it does make you question the scouting make up of some of the bigger teams, was surprises to see how many good players appeared to be playing below their level in France.  If I find the link will post later.

As expected SA overturned England and took top spot in the ratings, well deserved in my eyes. England have the sniff of a team in need of an internal change, may be the KP incident highlighted some inner fragilities within the camp.  Today seems several T20 games.  Simple trade of laying both sides at 1.6 for me.

Last Sundays' selections proved a lot better that the poor Saturdays, and the ratings din't do too bad either throwing up winners in the top 2 at 8/1, 4/6, 5/2 may stay with this format and see how they go.
