New Season, Same Story?

So is that the summer gone now?  The Euros are over, the Olympics have passed with a flashes of gold and glory all around, Formula 1 is the middle of its mid season break, cricket is starting to slip again, jump racing is starting to warm up their charges and the domestic football finally kicks off again, what a great summer we have had....

The main focus of attention will be on the Premier league kick off today, personally its a bit too early for me to get involved heavily, usually wait until 5 or 6 games in before i get involved to normal staking.  Interesting year this year for a few teams. At the top will Man Utd really knock Man City off there spot, Fergie has been quietly been shuffling his pack, personally I wonder about his strength in depth. Man City haven't really spent big, yet, but they have settled the squad, Mancini knows where he stands, so no big panics coming from Maine Road. Chelsea, hmmm, I question the decision to keep Di Matteo as manager; does he have the experience and legs for a full hard season, where he is inexperienced the back bone of his team appear to be just over he hill and I think they may struggle.  Arsenal, always difficult to fathom, Wenger looks liking he's shipping them out quicker that water down the drain, but, like Fergie, you've got to trust a man of his knowledge and experience, fancy this to be his last season. Spurs, about to lose their key player and a new manager, personally I like AVB and thought he was hard done by at Chelsea, will they be top 4, I think top 6, lot of expectation at White Hart Lane. Another club with a new manager is Liverpool, I do not hide my support for Liverpool, and am interested to see how Rodgers is going to adapt to a big club and the expectations of him, he will be given time and he has handled himself well so far, and no unhappy noises coming from Mellwood at the moment, is he under pressure for a top 4 finish, he says not, but fans believe different. Other questions to be answered; were Newcastle a flash in the pan last year, can Everton ever deliver on there promise, has Lambert got the balls/ability to drag Villa out of the mire and put in a serious challenge? How will Swansea cope in season 2, Laudrup good player, but what of managerial ability?  Lots of questions to be answered, roll on 3.00pm.

Did anybody actually benefit from the midweek internationals?  If somebody could tell me the point of them I would be interested to hear.

Cricket is underway and the KP saga rattles on, sorry but I can't side with England and I'm going with a back of SA, with a small saver on the draw,

The horses see 9 meetings today, the bookies will be rubbing their hands, how many 7 runner races will we see......  the 2 big races are at Newbury and ripon, but the one that interests me is the Champion Summer Hurdle at Perth, good quality race, with some decent horses, small back on the McCain horse for me.  Keep a careful eye out for NR's today, which may upset the balance of the cards.  Also playing with a couple of ratings at the moment, and have included the latest version of the todays Perth's card. Lets see how they go.

Good Luck
