It's Here & Saturday's Choices

After all the waiting its finally here, 2 weeks of solid professionalism topping off many years of training, conditioning and effort. Well what can you say about the opening ceremony? Exciting, surreal, confusing, moving, topped off with that great cauldron at the end. Personally I really enjoyed it, I thought Danny Boyle did the country proud, and if it didn't install a feel good factor in the country then we need a good kicking!!  And as for her Majesty with Mr Bond, good on her :-)  As I said before I'm looking forward to it, but the wife is going crazy already, fun times ahead...

So how do we better last weekends sporting finishes, some say poor Adam Scott, but if that includes you I would urge you to do 2 things, first look up who his girlfriend is, then have a look at his earnings. At least he will be consoled in a welcoming fashion... :-)  but well done Ernie Els, actually seemed surprised that he had won.

The weekend sees the start of some domestic football here in Scotland, and the new Rangers have finally been given provisional membership to start, pity!!! Elsewhere the transfer market has been a bit quiet, with several big signings still waiting in the wings. Managed to catch a bit of the GB match against Senegal on Thursday, the only question I have over it was what game were the officials watching?  That tackle on Bellamy was virtually assault, how was it not penalised?  Interesting to see that John Terry has been hauled before the FA, good i say. Some people have asked why, if he was acquitted by a criminal court? Well its quite simple in my eyes, he has brought the game into disrepute, also the burden of proof is lower, hearing on the grapevine that a 15 game ban is in the offering.

Another Grand Prix on Sunday with Hungary playing host.  Red Bull have been struggling this week, but deny its anything to do with the enforced change on their engine mapping.  McLaren, especially Hamilton, really need to make an impression this weekend, and so far he is stepping up to the plate. Are Ferrari really as strong as the past couple of results have made out, if they were wouldn't Massa be a lot closer as well? Lets see how the qualifying pans out before making any choices.

Disappointed to hear of 2 race courses closing, have been to Hereford several times and always enjoyed myself and have been made very welcome.  but yet again money is ruling, is this the thin end of the wedge or are we to see a couple more provincial courses to follow suit?  Several quality races today, but al the form horses would have been running in wet/muddy conditions, so with the ground firming up a bit care needs to be taken.

Good Luck
