Sunday Selections & Views

Well day one is over and has GB found its true level, some good individual displays, but no medals.  Was Cavendish's disappointment any surprise? Him and his team must be knackered following the Tour De France , and where their tactics had been on show for the whole world to see? Can they recover for the midweek time trials?  The swimmers have had some good individual displays, and its great to see their talent coming through, but are they using these games for the experience for next time around? Personally I enjoyed watching the archery and the beach volleyball, and still another 2 weeks to go.

The horses were doing well until about 8.00pm, then one horse decided to win and the other didn't want to know, Xihimba was the subject of a fair size drift just before the off, so that should have told its own story. The football showed its importance of having insurance, the lay of O 2.5 got me out of some trouble to leave me with a small loss.

Still quiet on the footy front, Rodgers seems to have held out the olive branch to Carroll which is encouraging. AVB is up in arms blaming Charlie Adams for injuring Bale.  Have Man City seen sense, by all accounts they are refusing to pay RVP his demands of £220k per week, and will only pay £150k!!!  If anybody had any money on my local side Dunfermline to win the league, it may be worth looking elsewhere at the moment, yesterdays display at Forfar was not great at all.

Today's Grand Prix see's the McLaren on pole, with what seems like a good chance of winning. McLaren has a good record on this track so if Hamilton gets away in front and reliability holds up then the chequered flag should be his. This track is not the easiest for passing, and off line will be very dusty, so any positioning changes could be via the pit stops. Red Bull seem to be struggling, and a few observers seem to think this is due to the engine mapping issue and now the claims around their suspension adjustments. a quick summer break for the drivers after this race, during which time I would imagine a few contracts for next year could be sorted out. One of those seems to be Massa, it looks like his time at Ferrari could be up, but who replaces him?  Back of Hamilton for a win, 1.8 here  Usual lay of the field at 1.76, with a possible view to laying the leader after 4 laps.

Another full days sport ahead, will the wife still be talking to me by this evening? We'll see....

Goals may not be freely available to begin with, the market has the 0-0 score fairly low at 9.0, too low for me.  if goal in first 50mins look to back 2-0/0-2 and keep a view to trading the other scores

Good Luck
