Sunday's Sports Selections

What a great sports day we have ahead of us. I suppose in some way it shows why these sports stars are at the top of their game and not couch potatoes like me & thee. The Tour De France finally finishes with Bradley Wiggins achieving what he describes as "his greatest sporting achievement". As I have mentioned previously this hasn't just been about one man, the whole ethos of teamwork has been shown throughout this competition.

The final round of the Open gets under way with Adam Scott 4 shots ahead of the field. Can he hold his nerve, can he keep his composure and adjust his game with the anticipated changing weather conditions?  I personally green up yesterday with a nice return of 225% ROI. maybe I greened a bit early, but I need to change mindset from a gambler to a trader.  On that note I am laying Scott at 1.67 and see how the trading goes from there. Whatever the final result quite happy with my portfolio, they done good!!

Today's Grand Prix sees a completely different set of circumstances to yesterdays practise.  the rain has gone, the tyres will be different and car set ups altered. As i said yesterday I fancy Vettel to do well here.  On the front row, he has the inside line, so the start is going to be important. But the Ferrari has proved itself to be no slouch, odds on a first corner coming together?  The Brits should do OK working there way up through the pack, Hamilton only completed 18 laps in qualifying compared to the others averaging 23, so has he got something up his sleeve with tyres? I would be surprised to see a British win here.  Laying the field at 1.78, and the leader after after 3 laps. A great resource can be found here http://www.formula1.com/live_timing/#  helps keep an eye on sector times, and possible pitting, hence able to anticipate which way the market goes.  Get on it before the TV commentator mentions it and you can be in the green.  UPDATE: hearing Red Bull may actually be moved to the back of he grid due to illegal engine mapping and exhausts, lets wait and see.

The cricket was a bit tedious yesterday with England struggling to get amongst the South Africans, an early break through this morning is needed, otherwise I reckon SA will disappear.  I have laid the draw at  1.6 and nicking a few points here and there, quick couple of wickets would do nicely.

Horses didn't do too bad yesterday, could have done with a bit more effort from a couple of the EW shots, but ho um.  Today sees a large card down at Newton Abbot and a quality sprint card at Ascot, with the Irish Oaks over at the Curragh. Conditions seem to be improving so be careful of the official going. Expect some big priced winners today as well.

Footy done OK with more goals that expected, but they were nicely spread out and in the right order which enabled us to stay 2 moves ahead all the time, especially when the cover of O2.5 was in place. Today's cards look a little sparse, with not many markets formed properly.  Zurich v Thun may peek the interest later, with a possible small laying of the draw and a back of 1-1 and seeing where we go.

On the subject of football, will Ranger, new or old, please stop crying and take your punishment. You lied, cheated and were found out. You owe the taxman, ie me, +£90m and you think you can stamp your feet and say you are hard done by. take your medicine and now please move on for the sake of the game and your club.

Are you set for the Olympics? As a spectacular looking forward to it, as a trading entity I very much doubt I'll be involved, don't know enough about the individual sports to get heavily involved.  But you've got to say the way British sport has been moving up in certain areas, eg swimming and cycling has been great and the funding given y lottery grants should be applauded. 40+ medals will be some achievement, but why not? China seems to be think they will be the dominant force, but have they truly been tested on the world stages?  Is it me or have the USA been very quiet? underplaying there expectations, or are they just weak?  Either way looking like a good couple of weeks viewing ahead (although the wife does disagree with me!!!)
